  7. 2 killed Ex-Con Stabbing Suspect Who Stabbed Mayor's Sister, Grabbed Officer's Gun and Killed Sunset Louisiana Officer, all Black Was Cop's Cousin ABC News "He began stabbing the Johnson sisters when they intervened to protect his wife," Guidroz said. "Officer Nelson arrived, and a fight ensued.  Man accused of stabbing two sisters, Courtney Jolivette, the suspect's wife, and Mayor's sister Surlay Johnson  and killing a Louisiana police officer with his own gun then crashing into and barricading himself inside a convenience store was a cousin of the slain officer. Suspect Harrison Lee Riley Jr. allegedly stabbed the two women, who were trying to protect his wife during a domestic dispute, when Officer Henry Nelson responded to the call Wednesday in the small south Louisiana town of Sunset with 14 officers. Nelson was shot and killed, apparently with his own [seized officer's] weapon, before Riley crashed his car into the front of a convenience store a few blocks away and barricaded himself inside. Nini Truong, 15 was doing homework in the office of her parents' store when the car crashed into the storefront and he demanded to see her father the owner.  Riley has an extensive criminal history in New Orleans before he moved nearby. August 27, 2015 Iraq conflict: Bomb kills two generals near Ramadi BBC News A suicide bombing by so-called Islamic State militants the Iraqi city of Ramadi has killed two army commanders and three other people, officials say.  bombing happened in the Jerayshi area.The bomb went off as the army intercepted an explosives-laden vehicle which they believed was targeting them, Brig Gen Yahya Rasool told state TV. At least 10 others were wounded in the blast, he said.

August 27, 2015 Suspect, victims identified in shooting at Texas Southern University KHOU  HOUSTON - Police are investigating a shooting near the Texas Southern University campus that left one critically injured and another wounded.  Darrius T. Nichols, 20, is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said. Nichols is a sophomore at TSU. According to TSU, the incident occurred around just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of University Courtyard Apartment. Investigators said some sort of argument ensued and Nichols shot LaKeytric Quinn in the head. Quinn is listed in critical condition. There are no records to indicate that Quinn has ever been a student at TSU. TSU police officer saw what was happening and pulled his weapon and shot at Nichols twice, but did not hit him.

[usually means terrorist] A Good Samaritan stepped in to help after he too got off at the bus stop.

August 27, 2015 Family Dispute is excuse for stepping on gas meter and pipes linked to Motel 6 Explosion in Bremerton, Washington NBCNews.com An explosion that leveled part of a Washington motel may have been triggered after a stepfather stood on a gas pipe while helping his stepdaughter escape the building amid a family dispute, police said. the stepfather, along with another man, tried to get his stepdaughter out of the building, according to police. In trying to aid her escape, however, "the stepfather has admitted that he stepped on the gas meter to assist his stepdaughter out of the second-floor window," police said. The stepdaughter also may have come into contact with the meter and pipes. The stepfather said they heard a "loud hissing sound" before immediately leaving and driving away, the statement said..

The condition of the victims is currently unknown, but both the boy and aunt were expected to survive. A 4-year-old boy and his grandmother were injured in a drive-by shooting Thursday morning while they were asleep in their Rancho Cordova apartment, police said.

August 27, 2015 2 killed 2 women killed in home by white domestic violence history man leaving court WJXT Jacksonville Three schools locked down because of the shooting.  .Neighbors on South Bellagio Drive called in reports of gunfire about 10:30 a.m. Shoar said four or five people were visiting at the house with Colley's wife, Amanda Cloaninger Colley, when he burst in and shot Amanda, 36, and one of her friends, 39-year-old Lindsey Dobbins. Both women died at the scene. Shoar said the others were able to get away without injury. Police said James Colley, who has a history of domestic violence, had just left court Thursday morning after appearing for violating a domestic violence injunction that Amanda obtained against him on Aug. 10. He was told to stay away from his wife, surrender his weapons and was given a 60-day suspended sentence.
