Charlie J. Bishop 2002 Tampa airplane suicide crash for Osama bin Laden

Charlie J. Bishop 2002 Tampa airplane suicide crash for Osama bin Laden --- ===

  • 2002 Tampa airplane crash - Wikipedia  January 5, 2002 just a few months after 9/11 attacks, air traffic controllers alerted the United States Coast Guard and the MacDill Air Force Base. Despite repeated warnings, Charlie J. Bishop, an Arab high-school student of East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs, Florida, United States, stole a Cessna 172, took off without authorization, ignored warnings from a Coast Guard helicopter sent to intercept and crashed it into the side of the Bank of America Tower in downtown Tampa, Florida. Bishop had been inspired by the September 11 attacks. The impact killed the teenager and damaged an office room.  Bishop had left a suicide note crediting Osama bin Laden for the September 11 attacks and praising it as a justified response to actions against the Palestinians and Iraqis, and said he (Bishop) was acting on behalf of Al Qaeda, Officials ruled out terrorism but moments after the incident, President George W. Bush was briefly informed about the incident and two unrelated crashes that same day.

A teenager who smashed a Cessna plane into a Tampa high-rise Saturday, moments after passing over a Southwest Airlines jet, left behind a suicide note expressing sympathy for Osama bin Laden.

But investigators do not think the East Lake student pilot, 15-year-old Charles J. Bishop, was linked to bin Laden or any other terrorist group.

"According to the note, Bishop clearly stated that he has acted alone without any help from anyone else," Tampa police Chief Bennie Holder said during a multi-agency press conference Sunday.

Despite his apparent backing of bin Laden, he recently wrote a school essay condemning the Sept. 11 attack. And while some knew him as a well-adjusted honors student, he recently hinted of something calamitous.

"If something happens to me, don't let any of my enemies come to my funeral,"

he tiny plane passed just 1,000 feet above a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 that had taken off moments earlier from Tampa International Airport. (had to spot and dodge the errant plane)

... Born in Massachusetts, Bishop lived in Atlanta from 1996 to 1998 before moving to Tampa. There, he attended several schools, including Walker Middle School and Davidsen Middle School.

Apparently Bishop is his mother's name, his Bin Loser style father is a Lebonese gent named Mushawai or something...

"Bishop" also made a comment to his teacher that "you can't tell who the arabs around you are" or something to this effect...

"Nothing to see here. Move along."

Jan 14, 2003 - Taken together, these discrepancies seem designed to deflect public attention away from the boy's father, a man named Charles J Bishara.

Why did young Bishop target the Bank of America skyscraper after telling friends that he abhorred the World Trade Center attacks and wanted to go to Afghanistan and "get the SOBs''?

"Pushing the envelope in juvenile delinquency"

Osama Bin Laden had urged his followers to hit banks. Is that why Charles Bishop went out and hit one? Is he really just a troubled kid? Doesn’t flying a plane into a skyscraper somewhat stretch the definition of adolescent "acting out?"

Why would an honor student bellowing out patriotic songs near the top of his lungs and telling teachers he aspires to join the Air Force leave a suicide note praising America’s Public Enemy No.1, Osama bin Laden?

Why would he tell his family that he didn't want his “enemies'' coming to his funeral, a request similar to one made in the last will and testament of suicide pilot Mohamed Atta?

Last Saturday, Charles Bishop crashed a plane into a building, leaving behind a suicide note professing admiration for Osama bin Laden.

Yet by Monday police were saying he wasn’t a terrorist…

Jan 10, 2002 - Julia J. Detore and Charles Bishara failed in a bloody, horrific suicide pact. But the son they ultimately produced would succeed in a suicide .

Charles Bishop’s "missing" Dad is Charles J. Bishara, a half-Sicilian and half-Lebanese career criminal who hails from Winchester, Mass., described by Bay State natives as a ‘Mob town.’  He is currently wanted on heroin charges.  News accounts had been at pains to make one thing perfectly clear: "The boy's father has been out of the mother's and son's lives for some time."

Bishara's organized crime ties could thus have had nothing to do with young Charlie Bishop's bizarre suicide, still the only authenticated act of Osama bin Laden-inspired terror in America since September 11.

Julia Bishara had changed her and son Charles' last names, from Bishara to Bishop. She told officials she made the change because ‘Bishara’ is an Arabic name and the U.S. was at war with Iraq, and subsequent news reports pointed to this as evidence that young Charles had had no contact with his "missing" father.

Team coverage was clearly the right way to go.

The MadCowMorningNews has learned that this may not be the whole story. We had puzzled over why the divorced woman hadn't reverted to her maiden name, Detore. She changed her name instead to Bishop.

"The entire Bishara clan in Winchester changed their names to Bishop," a long-time native of Massachusetts told us. "They anglicized it."
Six years after "small time hood" Charles Bishara had supposedly left his ex-wife and son's lives for good, had Julia Bishop changed her name to match her ex-husband’s?

Mother Julia and son Charles lived a rootless, nomadic lifestyle, moving from town to town and school to school, news reports indicated, without saying why. Julia Bishop listed five addresses in the Tampa Bay area. Charles had attended at least four schools there. It was a virtual prescription for maladjustment.

Behind the walls of his gated community, Charlie nursed a grievance.

Kid didn't know it was '02 yet

.

I have prepared this statement in regards to the act I am about to commit.

First of all, Osama bin Laden is absolutely justified in the terror he has caused on 9-11. He has brought a mighty nation to its knees!

God blesses him and the others who helped make September 11th happen.

The U.S. will have to face the consequences for its horrific actions against the Palestinian people and (illegible, could be Iraq?) by its allegiance with the monstrous Israelis who want nothing short of world domination!

You will pay - God help you - and I will make you pay!

There will be more coming!
Al Queda and other organizations have met with me seversal times to discuss the option of me joining. I didn't.

This is an operation done by me only. I had no other help, although I am acting on their behalf.

Osama bin Laden is planning on blowing up the Super Bowl with an antiquated nuclear bomb left over from the 1967 Israeli-Syrian War.

FOX in the article quoting law enforcement sources listed the name as Charles Bishara and it checks out on Switchboard.com as a phone number from a Naples, Florida address.
How far is Naples from Tampa and is the dad in on this?
On Fox News' Special Report with Brit Hume last night, Fred Barnes harped on the fact that the kid's name was Arabic.
Liberal Mara Liasson from National Socialist Radio interrupted him, saying, "His last name is Bishop."

Barnes, of course, corrected her, saying they changed the family name after coming to America and "if you want to hold on to that distinction without a difference, feel free."

CNN are reporting that both his mother and grandfather were at the airport watching him pre-flight.

harles Bishop is the first American suicide bomber in history. Two weeks after his death authorities have finally ruled out acne as the explanation for his act of terrorism.
"Very little safe ground so far."

A few things are known for sure:

MacDill Air Force Base—the center of operations for Operation Enduring Freedom—had no interceptors on hand. So Tampa was a pretty safe place to do something stupid in a plane.
A Cessna does not have anywhere near the same destructive potential as a jumbo jet.
If you crash into a mostly deserted building, the person you end up killing is yourself.
The mainstream press quickly concluded that Charles Bishop's kamikaze flight had no connection to terrorism, a judgment some thought a little cavalier.

Improbably, his suicide was instead adjudged to have been acne-induced. Or so said the Washington Post, ABC News, and the Associated Press, which all ran stories blaming Bishop's suicide mission on Accutane, the powerful acne pills produced by Hoffman-La Roche.

This made little sense. But what else should we expect in a surreal tragedy which saw Mohamed Atta use a passport from the "Republic of Conch," which doesn't exist, while boarding his fatal flight?

Alone among the major morning news shows, the MadCowMorningNews questioned this finding, and devoted all newsroom resources—TeamMadCowCoverage—to investigating questions about Bishop's suicide hanging in the soft Gulf breezes which roll into the port city of Tampa, Florida.

Our diligence has been rewarded.

This week the chief toxicologist with the Tampa Medical Examiner's office told reporters the results of tests on Bishop's blood for a range of substances, including opiates, antidepressants, stimulants, marijuana, PCP and cocaine.

All came back negative.

The 2002 Tampa plane crash was an incident that occurred on Saturday, January 5, 2002. The incident occurred when Charlie J. Bishop, a high-school student of East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs, FloridaUnited States, stole a Cessna 172 and crashed it into the side of the Bank of America Tower in downtown Tampa, Florida. Bishop had been inspired by the September 11 attacks. The impact killed the teenager and damaged an office room. There were no other injuries.
Bishop had left a suicide note crediting Osama bin Laden for the September 11 attacks and praising it as a justified response to actions against the Palestinians and Iraqis, and said he (Bishop) was acting on behalf of Al Qaeda, from whom he'd turned down help. As officials could find no evidence of any connections, terrorism as a motive was ruled out, and they suggested that the crash was an apparent suicide. Bishop's mother filed, then dropped, a lawsuit claiming that an acne medicine Bishop took, isotretinoin, had side effects such as depression and suicidal actions, and caused the incident.

filed a $70 million wrongful death lawsuit against drug maker Hoffman-La Roche Tuesday, alleging the company's Accutane acne medicine caused the boy to commit suicide.

Incident[edit]

At 5:00 pm EST, 15-year-old Charlie J. Bishop's instructor left him at the plane to perform a preflight inspection. Once he was left alone in the plane, he started the engine and took off without permission.[1] As soon as the plane took off, the air traffic controllers alerted the United States Coast Guard and the MacDill Air Force Base. Despite repeated warnings from a helicopter dispatched by the Coast Guard, the small plane continued on until it collided with an office building. The plane crashed between the 28th and 29th floors of the 42-story building.[2][1]

Pilot[edit]

Bishop was a 15-year-old high-school student from Tarpon Springs, Florida. At the time of the incident, he was a student pilot and only authorized to fly with a Certified Flight Instructor.

Investigation and aftermath[edit]

This Cessna 172 is the same make and model plane that crashed into the Bank of America Tower in Tampa, Florida.
An investigation followed the incident. Officials ruled out terrorism although eyewitnesses said that the plane made no apparent attempt to avoid hitting the building. Officials finally suggested that the crash was an apparent suicide. In addition, a note found in the wreckage stated that he voiced support for Osama bin Laden. However, there is no evidence that the teen had any connection with any terror group. The suicide note found in the pocket of the pilot stated:
I have prepared this statement in regards to the acts I am about to commit. First of all, Osama bin Laden is absolutely justified in the terror he has caused on 9-11. He has brought a mighty nation to its knees! God blesses him and the others who helped make September 11th happen. The U.S. will have to face the consequences for its horrific actions against the Palestinian people and Iraqis by its allegiance with the monstrous Israelis--who want nothing short of world domination! This is an operation done by me only. I had no other help, although, I am acting on their behalf.
Later authorities confiscated a computer from Bishop's parents' house to try to determine a motive for the incident. Moments after the incident, President George W. Bush was briefly informed about the incident and two unrelated crashes that same day.[1]
In April 2002, transcripts obtained from the Federal Aviation Administration revealed new details about the incident, which included how close the small plane came to a Southwest Airlines flight.[3]
Bishop's mother filed a $70 million (2002 USD) lawsuit against Roche Laboratories, who makes an acne medicine called Accutane. According to the lawsuit claim the medicine had side effects such as depression and suicidal actions, which the claim stated as the cause of the incident.[4] The suit was dropped on June 26, 2007, by Bishop's mother, who stated she was physically and emotionally unable to continue the action.[5]
After the incident took place, numerous security measures were taken. The FAA released a security notice on January 6, the day after the incident. The notice included security of the aircraft and regulations pertaining to underaged flight students. In addition, the EAA and other smaller aircraft organizations proposed more security of flight schools and small aircraft.[6][7]
While authorities stated that the crash was due to an "abuse of trust" rather than a security breach, others argue for the need of increased security due to the simplicity of such actions.[8]
