He began firing into the air near the playground, repeatedly shouting, "I hate my life." and began firing at students until he was apprehended by a volunteer firefighter. No alcohol was involved. Aguilar was charged with driving without a driver's license, no insurance, child endangerment and three counts of serious injury by reckless driving. Lea was in seventh grade at Brody Middle School. I was the first fatal crash at the intersection in 10 years. Lopez Aguilar claimed he tried to stop at the stop sign, but he couldn't because he already knew days before the brakes on his car were not working. U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley was told Aguilar was approved for President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) but has since fallen out of status and currently resides in the U.S. illegally.

Early Monday morning, the two were on the back patio of the Senior Suites of Rainbow Beach for their regular late-night talk about Bible passages when the 67-year-old Merchant pulled a gun and shot the 80-year-old Smith twice in the head, according to police and other residents. He died on the scene.
