March 7, 2017 Mark Wendland Guilty Drunk Wrong Way Crash Mark J. Wendland, 48, of Baltic South Dakota was drunk driving the wrong way west in eastbound lanes and caused a the four-vehicle pileup with two semi rigs running into the ditch to avoid a crash on Interstate 90 near Fairmont. crash killed a 21-year-old passenger Hannah Stoesz, in a vehicle heading in the other direction. In September he agreed enter a guilty plea to vehicular homicide and serve a little more than two years in prison. There was no evidence that the crash was deliberate (but it has not been suggested or excluded)
